horsens - Do a good deed, get money for it - and send the money to vulnerable children in Tanzania.
That was how an offer to children, from among others schools in Horsens, sounded when they were invited to participate in a so-called reversed Advent calendar, organized by the relief organization SOS Børnebyerne.
During December the students from Bankagerskolen, Egebjergskolen, Horsens Byskole and Østerhåbskolen in Hatting did good deeds with a total value of 4.876 kr.
The students have among others walked dogs, helped their siblings both with doing their homework and with cooking, informs SOS Børnebyerne in a press release.
At the same time the students could on a daily basis open a video portal where they could follow the everyday lives of children in Tanzania.
The money from Horsens is now put together with contributions by students from other parts of the country, and it has resulted in a donation to SOS Børnebyerne in Tanzania for a total amount of 175.000 kr.
The money will go to scholarships for children in Zanzibar.
