HORSENS - Who delivered the best sport performance in Horsens in 2016? Now you can help determine that.
Horsens Folkeblad's sports editorial has nominated three names, each of which has delivered the goods in the past year, and in our poll below we leave it up to readers of hsfo.dk to decide who should win.
The nominees are:
AC Horsens fooled everyone and everything and moved shortly before the summer holidays up in the Super League after a three-year absence. Despite a limited budget, Bo Henriksen and Niels Lodberg succeeded to get the game to go up to a higher level and take one of the three promotion places. The success continued in the Super League. AC Horsens was previously proclaimed a sure relegation, but with 27 points for the first 21 games, the team has shown its merits in the top division.
Anne-Marie Rindom from Horsens Sailing Club sailed out in 2015 into the world elite in the laser radial class by becoming world champion, and in 2016 she got a series of new triumphs. The highlight was undoubtedly the Olympic bronze medal, which was secured in Rio after a dramatic last race. Anne-Marie Rindom has stated that she'll take four more years towards the Olympic Games in Tokyo, and that was highlighted with a silver medal at the World Cup final in Melbourne in December.
Horsens IC Basketball
2016 was another bumper year for the local basketball champions. Trophy title and championship in 2015 were followed by a record number of victories in the base game and a terrific DM-final series against Bakken Bears, who were defeated by 4-3- the decisive battle for the sold out house at Forum Horsens. The fall has offered 12 wins in 13 league games and a qualification for the Cup final in January 2017.
